Four months after starting the execution of the project to create a pedestrian crossing to end the mobility problems in the Plaza Rafael Cano in Valladolid, OCA Obras, Caminos y Asfaltos concludes the tasks to proceed with the placement of the underground concrete box over 1,400 tons that will configure the new pedestrian space under the railway line. The company has already completed the first phases of the project: space preparation, piloting, removal of affected services (wiring, elements of the railway network) and creation of support structures.
The OCA team works on the construction of the concrete box, 3.5 meters high and 280 square meters in area. The structure will be suspended at the end of September to bring it to its final position. For the movement of the drawer, hydraulic jacks will be used. Supported on a reaction wall, the hydraulic jacks will move the drawer on a sliding slab on whose sides the guiding walls are running, which will allow the drawer to be pushed in the correct direction.
The drawer will move at a speed of 2 linear meters per day. Once the caisson is driven, the remaining urbanization works will be carried out: construction of the sidewalks, access stairs, terraces, … The works will conclude at the beginning of 2019.
With a budget of more than 2.2 million euros, the work is in addition to others carried out by OCA in the development of the high-speed network in Spain, such as the stretch of the AVE tunnel on its way through Hellín (Albacete)
